Google beyond web

Google has just published a new beta tool: Google Desktop Search

With this tool, you can search your email (only Outlook or Outlook Express), files (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Text), web history (IE), and chats history (AOL). Furthermore, it is also integrated into your normal Google search result in Browser, like this:

Looks pretty neat for me. Lets Google everything!

HIHI , i have few comments regarding this tool
    1. It can’t sepcify a target folder for searching
    2. it can’t recognize pdf format
    3. Does this tool consume CPU a lot?

Yes, current version of Google Desktop Search does not support PDF (really sad), nor does it support target folder customization (though you still can customize which folders not to be indexed). But I believe Google surely will provide such functions in subsequent releases. All in all, this tool is free, lean, and fast (compared to other tools). I couldn’t find a suitable indexing tool before, so I am pretty happy that finally I could have one now (nearly suits to my needs).
